Who were the Knights Templar? During the Middle Ages, the historic Templars devised powerful economic and cultural improvements across Europe. They revolutionized western economies with their new international banking system. As architects, they presided over the building of many gothic cathedrals and churches. The Chivalric principles of the Templars spread via the ever popular Grail legends. Exotic stories of shining knights transmitted moral codes of ethics to all levels of society through legend and song. Behind the scenes, the Templars raised Roman Christian Europe out of the Dark Ages as they perpetuated scholasticism and tolerance. The TFA hopes to revive the spirit of these Templar traditions through study, discussion and friendship.

What is the TFA's Philosophy? We are seldom offered a “highway to success” without challenges. One must take the resources at hand and create their own “path of life”. The TFA offers positive stepping stones to those building their “path of life” offering uplifting “construction materials” and shared advice to make use of on one’s “way.”

How can I become a Knight?

The Templar Fellowship of America represents only one of the many roads to Knighthood, with the primary focus on becoming a better person. All Templar organizations have their own standards and qualifications, but our road to Knighthood is not a road lightly undertaken.  The focus of a Knight is to continue the personal process toward excellence by way of leadership, thoughtful participation and responsibility for the well being of the society. The pilgrimage to knighthood includes serving as a Friend of the Templars for some number of months, a Companion of the Templars for some number of months, and then, once elected to receive the Order of Knighthood, as a Page, then as a Squire, before being created Knight.

What is the first step on the road to Knighthood in the Templar Fellowship?  Get to know us and let us get to know you. Our forums, emails, and other resources on the internet can get you started and make it easy to get to know one another and work for the good of the order within the time frames that one has available. Knighthood is not just "being a member" it is something that you aspire to.
