History of the Cistercian Order shows that San Bernard of Clairveaux and the original Templars were not only noblemen and military warrior monks, but were also scholars.

They were keepers of long lost academic traditions that transformed medieval Europe in many ways; from architecture to world banking.

Our basic approach to Templar Studies stems from the classical scholastic traditions, which were used the middle Ages:

In the TFA here in America, we use Greek words for our motto because they best describe the way we will approach the Platonic way of learning.

Through research and exploration we will learn about new ideas and open doors to new ways of thinking. Gnosis is search for knowledge through learning about new things that expand our awareness.

Beyond learning about new things is direct experience or to make use of knowledge. Katanoisis means to strive for understanding through life experience and group discussion. This is where we grow together, work together, and eat together as spiritual family.

Our goal is Sophia, which means wisdom through learning how to use knowledge and understanding the right way in practical situations.
